On Sunday I took a trip down to London from the Cotswolds, to meet up with my gorgeous besties, The Bramley Road Girls. Traveling from Hampshire, Suffolk, Buckinghamshire, Zone 6 and Zone 3, we all got together for a childfree birthday brunch for Lucy and Claire.
We met up at Avenue on St Jame’s Street, a restaurant & bar with a New York soul & modern American menu.
We had booked to have their Brunch, which includes two courses and unlimited prosecco! I had their bacon and cheese hamburger and it was one of the best burgers I have ever had. Followed by a dessert of mint icecream and hot chocolate fudge that came in a little jug. Delicious!
The waiters were friendly and efficient, I lost track quite quickly how many times my glass was topped up!! The decor is minimal lux, very laid back. The only down side was the high ceilings, the echo noise of all the other diners chatting, meant it was a bit tricky to hear all our girly gossip. And we had lots to catch up on! Between us there have been trips to Peru, Thailand, a new boyfriend, a new job, promotions, a baby bump, baby sex, a first birthday, a first step and lots of dirty nappies!
We try to get together as much as we can for birthdays and other celebrations or occasions. We group together to buy each other presents, meaning we all know we’ll get one decent present for our Birthday, thanks to the girls! xx
After we’d consumed enough prosecco we said goodbye to Justine, who had to head home and decided to go around the corner to The Ritz, for …. another glass of bubbles!
Popping in to The Ritz for a drink costs a few pence, well pounds more than your average drinking hole! We ordered between us champagne, red wine and coffees. It was sophisticated, a little bit of luxury ….
… And then, as it always does when we’re together, it got a little bit silly! Having a personal trainer as a best friend is great, but checking your post baby abdominal seperation in The Ritz, is maybe not my classiest idea! But it wouldn’t be a fun day out with the girls, if there wasn’t a bit of giggling in the toilets, or in this case, the ‘Powder Room!’
Needless to say, we left before we were thrown out and headed for the tube, to carry us home in our different directions.
Cheers lovely ladies, see you again soon Bramley Road Girls xxx.
