Blueberry Boo Kids
I first came across Blueberry Boo Kids on Instagram, when I was searching for prints for Lornes newly decorated room.
I was drawn by the crisp designs and cute slogans. They have some fantastic prints you can order through their website, Blueberry Boo Kids. I really like the superhero ones for Monroes room and you can also have personalised prints created, which make great gifts.
I like to support small independent businesses, so I went back to Blueberry Boo Kids that also sell childrens apparel, when Lorne was turning one. I bought a tshirt for him to wear at his birthday party with the words One, printed boldly on the front.
Introducing Gemma, the inspirational, hardworking lady behind Blueberry Boo Kids and Mama to Isaac, aged 2 and a half.

Tell us 3 facts about you
- We recently moved back to Devon after 11 years in and around London, it’s been a bit of an adjustment but it was definitely the best decision so Isaac can be near his family.
- I am a massive telly addict and would be lost without Netflix.
- As well as running Blueberry Boo I am also a freelance video editor, and work mainly on wedding videos at present.
How long ago did you set up Blueberry Boo Kids? We launched in July 2015.
What inspired you? My son of course, I had a small business selling word art and gifts called GW Prints. When Kids designs inspired by him started to take over the store, I started imagining some of my designs on shirts, so I decided to split the kids bits off into another business. Five months later, I closed GW Prints, bringing our most popular gift prints over, ready to focus fully on Blueberry Boo.
What products do you sell? We sell modern kids prints and apparel, designs inspired by childhood fun, adventures and dreaming big.
What is the best thing about running Blueberry Boo Kids? Without a doubt it is seeing all the gorgeous littles wearing my tees or seeing their gorgeous rooms featuring my prints. I have fallen in love with Instagram and we would be nowhere without the amazing group of people who follow and support us. Who share pictures of their little ones with me every day and beyond that, allow me to share them with the community. As a way of saying thank you, we hand out discount codes at the end of each month to our favourite three pictures.
What is the hardest thing about running your own business and being a Mumtrepreneur? The Work/Life balance is really hard. I’m juggling running the business with looking after Isaac, who is home with me all day and also fitting in edits. So I rarely stop, as soon as Isaac is asleep I am working, as soon as I wake up I’m answering emails and thinking about new designs and products. We have been completely overwhelmed by the response to our brand, particularly since Christmas, so much so, my husband is now helping out most evenings too. But all the hard work is worth it, I get to stay home with Isaac and have created a brand that I am extremely proud of and can’t wait to develop further.
What exciting things have you got planned for 2016? We have just launched Spring/Summer ’16 and I’m already working on our Autumn collection. We have some new summer styles for the littles launching soon, and also some bits for Mum and Dad too. We hope to be able to get to the point where we have many of our designs here ready to ship whilst still being able to offer the range of products we currently offer. No two little ones are the same, so it is important to us that we can reflect that in the range of colours and styles we offer.
