Bramley Road Girls, Bubbles & Bump

Yesterday I traveled to London to meet up with the Bramley Road Girls for Hayley’s baby shower.

Hayley and Jon are expecting their baby girl in June, but it has been a long journey for the couple to get to this point. Four years ago, Hayley sadly had a miscarriage, she was just short of seven weeks. Feeling that something wasn’t right, she went back to her doctors following the miscarriage, because of pelvic pain she was experiencing. Then followed a long two and a half year wait for hospital appointments, referrals and sadly, during this time, she lost another early pregnancy.

Finally she was given a diagnosis and was told she had extreme endometriosis. Although Hayley now knew what was causing her such excruciating pain, her symptoms were becoming more and more severe. Endometriosis can vary in severity between women and so can the symptoms. On one occasion Hayley was in so much pain, she collapsed at work and was rushed to hospital in an ambulance.

It was another six months after diagnosis that Hayley finally went through treatment and had a Laparoscopy operation to clear the endometriosis and polycystic cysts.

Hayley says, ‘The difference to my health after the operation was instant, I had so much more energy, I didn’t feel rundown anymore.’

Just six months after having the endometriosis and polycystic cysts cleared, Hayley fell pregnant. We all nervously counted as the weeks passed, hoping for Hayley and Jon that they would be third time lucky and this pregnancy would stick.

We are all so excited as Hayley gets closer to the end of her pregnancy and we can’t wait to meet their long wished for baby girl.

So yesterday we all got together and showered Hayley and her bump, with our love and best wishes. We’ve been friends now for coming up to twenty years and we’ve all been through tough times and supported each other. Our friendship and support circle is important and special and for Hayley we all wanted to show how much support she has from us. Sadly Diane, Hayleys beautiful Mum passed away after battling Cancer. We all know how important family are and for those of us with children, we know how difficult and challenging becoming a parent is. Along with us girls, were some of Hayleys childhood friends and her two sisters. Together we are her squad, we’ve got your back Hayley and we’re here for you 24/7!

Looking blooming gorgeous at 34 weeks 5 days, Hayley was taken out by her sisters Natalie and Jessica for a manicure, whilst the rest of us arrived at her flat in Muswell Hill and set up her afternoon tea party. Lucy had hired some pretty vintage china and ordered a traditional afternoon tea buffet of dainty finger sandwiches, cake slices and scones with the whole works, strawberry jam and lashings of clotted cream! Tea was served in floral vintage tea pots and the bubbles were chilled and plentiful! The room was decorated with ‘its a girl’ bunting and paper poms in soft peachy tones, were strung up around the room.

We’d all come bearing gifts and cooed over the cute little dresses and tiny babygros. Amongst the gifts were a couple of handmade items. Claire’s Mum, Gill, had crocheted a baby blanket, complete with monkey ears for little hands to hold on to. My Nana had knitted a little cardigan in white with pale pink stripes. Now all we have to do is count down the last few weeks and wait for the safe arrival of this already much loved little girl.

It wouldn’t be a Bramley Girl get together without a bit of silliness! I always have the best giggles with my girls!
