Postpartum Beauty With Environ

Stepping out on my own! Hands free, child free!

A couple of weeks ago before chicken poxs arrived, I managed to get two Wednesday mornings all to myself. I was able to head out on my own and indulge in some proper me time!

My skin since having our second son has been horrendous. I’ve found it quite embarrassing and it’s made me feel really selfconscious and even depressed some days. I’ve had spots like a teenager, mainly along my jaw line but occasionally on my cheeks and forehead. Long gone is my pregnancy glow! I’ve looked grey, my skin has seemed dull, fine lines have been more noticeable and I’ve had ugly breakouts, that I couldn’t get under control.

I’ve been told that they are hormonal blemishes and it can take up to two years for my body to rebalance after pregnanacy. So postpartum extends past the first twelve months! After trying a mixture of products at home, I decided it was time to seek professional help.

I chose to visit the Henley Rooms in Stratford Upon Avon. They offer a range of treatments, facials, body treatments, manis, pedis, hair removal and anti ageing treatments.

After a consultation with my therapist Becky, she preformed the Caci Microdermabrasion treatment, a great starter facial so she could assess my skin and decide how best to move forward.

As part of my treatment she thoroughly cleansed my skin, then did a mild exfoliation with Dermalogica’s daily microfoliant.

Becky then used a crystal free microdermabrasion with blue and red led light therapy to mop up bacteria and help aid cell turnover and collagen production.

This was followed by the Caci wrinkle comb which combines a micro current and red and blue light therapy again to help heal the skin. The micro current was a bit funny to get used to, as it feels like tiny little electric shocks. Its not that bad though, you get used to it, but just to bear in mind if you were wanting a relaxing facial treatment, this isn’t for you. This is more of a facial workout! To finish the facial, she applied a hydrating mask to cool and calm the skin.

To complete my treatment, Becky applied Environ’s C-quence eye gel which feels amazing, especially on tired eyes. It can firm the skin and reduce fine lines. I also learnt you should only apply eye cream just below the brow line, not actually over the eye lid. This picture I found on Pinterest explains what I mean.

Becky then used Environ’s AVST 1 moisturiser which is full of vitamins A, C and E to help fortify the skin against the sun, even out skin tone, plump the skin and normalise oil production.

I’ve used Dermalogica products for years, but my skin has changed and obviously I’m getting older. So I really like the idea of the Environ AVST range, as its tailored to you individually. It goes up in strengths and your therapist recommends where to start and when to move up a level. The main ingredient, the magic stuff is actually Vitamin A! The AVST step up program contains 5 strengths of vitamin A, that enables the skin to become accustomed to the progressive strength and active ingredients for long term results!

So I took advantage of one of their box set offers, that included other products to try and purchased the C-quence eye gel and AVST 1 moisturiser.

To update my skincare routine at home, I purchased Environ Sebuwash, which is an easy to use face wash product I use morning and night.

After my treatments and having used the products at home, my skin feels amazing, so much better. It feels hydrated, looks smoother and noticeably fresh. I’m still getting the occasional hormonal breakout, but that’s as much about diet, sleep, exercise and monthly cycle. What I have found though, is that the breakouts are smaller, only on my jaw line and clear up faster.

I’m really pleased with the treatments I had and the Environ product range. So if you’re looking to try something new, I totally recommend them.

After all I’ve said, I did after both treatments go to my favourite cafe in Stratford Upon Avon, Box Brownie! It’s a real luxury going to a coffee shop on your own, getting to drink your coffee when it’s still warm and not having to share your cake with the child sat on your lap! So I indulged in a cappuccino and large slice of bakewell! Well, life is all about balance!
