Baby boy turns 2!

We’ve enjoyed a lovely weekend celebrating our youngest sons 2nd birthday.

We’ve had a lot going on as a family, not the best start to a new year, so it was difficult to plan too much.

I decided to keep things simple, so after opening presents at home, we met up with our immediate family, that live closest to us and we went to a place called All Things Wild, in Honeybourne, Worcestershire.

It was pretty freezing, so we let the boys run wild and explore. My brother, sister and I, have two boys each. So we’ve got a proper little boy gang!

As you wander around All Things Wild, you pass by giant dinosaur heads sticking out of the ground and bursting through walls! A bit random, but the boys thinks it’s brill! There is also a Land Rover pulling train style carriages around a wild meadow that giant dinosaurs are roaming! The Jurassic Park of Worcestershire!!!

After meeting the meer cats, silver fox, wallabies & reindeer, an eclectic gathering, we braved the soft play!

Then home for tea and birthday cake!

We’ve had no heating for the last week, because our boiler has spazzed out & the engineer can’t figure out why. So we gathered in one room, huddled around a fan heater! Cosy!

I always like to shop small independent businesses and if you’ve read any of my previous posts, you’ll know how I like to sing from the rooftops and tell you how great they are.

For this celebration we had a cake made by Gracious Bakes who is based in Chipping Campden. She made this rather epic, delicious sponge cake, with ombré frosting. It looked & tasted awesome.

Lorne loves dinosaurs, partly because it’s a word he can say that always receives lots of smiles & whoops! It’s so cute when he says it and he says it a lot! I found these brilliant candle holders on Instagram. A genius little business called Lola Beau Design, that make original, glittery candle holders. The dinosaurs looked awesome and all the boys loved them.

I’ve decided I want a flock of 40 glittery pink flamingos on my big girl birthday cake next year! 🙈

I added some simple room decor with a tassel garland from Indigo Zebra. I came across this business on Etsy and loved the choice of colour combinations. They arrive in a box with everything you need, cut ready. All you have to do is follow a link they send you on order confirmation and watch a YouTube clip that shows you how to DIY. Then a few crafty minutes later, hey presto, you have an awesome looking garland!

My monochrome & dinosaur table was finished off perfectly with a giant shiny number 2 balloon!

For his birthday outfit this year, I dressed Lorne head to toe in Fred & Noah, one of my Instagram faves! I love their choice of fabrics, well made garments and the very friendly and helpful Mama behind the business.

Now the party is over, it’s time to crack on with another week and get hold of the boiler engineer! Fffffreeeeezing! ❄️
